Did you hear that Broadway Bicycle School and Wenham, Massachusetts based framebuilder Christopher Igleheart are sponsoring a cycling team? It’s true.
Last weekend BBS rider Scott Glowa finished 3rd for the final podium spot in the Men’s 3/4 at the 10th Annual Chris Hinds FUJI Sunshine Crit in Charlestown, RI.
This weekend the team was racing close to home at the Blue Hills Classic. Charlie Schubert, also the Service Manager at Bikes Not Bombs, took the win in the Category 4 race by riding away from the rest of the field on the final climb.
The team is off to a great start this season! Look for more updates here and from the team on Twitter, Facebook and on their blog!
Charlie Schubert off the front on the final climb at the Blue Hills Classic. Doesn't that kit look awesome?!
On March 16, Tim Johnson and a dedicated crew of riders, racers and advocates departed Boston on their bikes to ride to the National Bike Summit in Washington D.C. Their goal – to raise funds and awareness for the Bikes Belong Foundation, one of the most effective non-profits in America. Bikes Belong manages to convert every dollar it receives into $1,800 in government funding for bike paths, bike lanes, bike programs and bike facilities. Visit www.bikesbelong.org for more information.
To continue the momentum and give something back to folks who’ve donated, the team will be hosting an after party reception at the Broadway Bicycle School in Cambridge, Mass. During the evening folks will have a chance to win some amazing raffle prizes including:
$200 in Gift certificates to Broadway Bicycle School
A hand-built set of wheels (You provide rims and hubs, I provide spokes and labor – $200 value)
A bunch of awesome bike commuting accessories courtesy of Seattle Bicycle Supply
And more stuff on the way…
Show your support and come on by for a really fun night with some truly inspiring people!

Our basic class is designed for those just starting out. We focus on the foundation, making sure you understand how the different systems of your own bike work! We cover practical topics so you can apply your new skills right away. By the end of this class, you will know how to fix a flat, keep your brakes braking and gears shifting. You will be introduced to your drivetrain and learn how bearings keep your wheels spinning.
For those who’ve been wrenching or graduates of our basic class – you can take your skills further with our Advanced series. Learn the subtlety of wheel truing. Dive into the inner workings of your headset, your hubs and the mysterious front derailleur. This class is full of grease and do it yourself adventure.

We received our first shipment of Brompton H Type bikes today and they look awesome.
According to Brompton, the H Type is the new addition to the range for 2012. Providing a markedly more upright riding position (it has the highest grip height of the four options at 1072mm), the H Type is for those who like to travel with unhurried style, taking in the journey along the way.
HEY all you brave Boston cyclists out there in the slushy snowy slipprey streets.
We thought we’d be slow today because of the weather – but what a pleasant surprise when our shop is filled with folks taking the opportunity to work on their own bikes . Snow day, play day. Lots of fender installs, snow tires and general tlc insuring safe riding for the remaining winter.
Here’s a shot of one customer who came in – worked on his bike, swapped out for a new wheel, rode around then came back for fenders!
Lotsa fun. New classes have been scheduled – but if you want some one on one with a mechanic for specifics or particulars – feel free to come by. Snow days are great days to spend drinking free coffee and getting dirty with your bike!
You are entitled to $25 worth of fun bike stuff at Broadway Bicycle School!!!!
